Your child’s first dental appointment can be exciting and filled with anxiety, but there’s a lot you can do to prepare for it. Here’s all you need to know before you go!

1. Your child’s first appointment is no appointment at all!

Your child’s first visit into the dental chair can be during a regular appointment for your own cleaning, but they can tag along in the room and see what the exam room is like. They can also get familiar with the chair, the air and water syringe (which we call Mr. Thirsty), and ask any questions they want.

2. The TVs in the waiting room will be on their favorite channel.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sesame Street, Handy Manny … you name it!

3. They can pick from a large selection of toys and prizes in the prize drawer.

4. They’ll learn how to brush their teeth like a pro.
